Find the Orem Court Docket

Start your Orem docket search by knowing which court level holds the case. Orem runs a City Justice Court for traffic tickets, ordinance violations, lower misdemeanors, and small claims, while felonies, major civil suits, domestic matters, and probate belong to the Fourth District Court. A statewide system carries the public court docket history for both, and the city posts its own video hearing, citation, and payment instructions. For an Orem court docket lookup, bring the court level, a case or citation number, a party name, and the location. The clerk can confirm current settings and the official record.

Searching the Orem Court Docket

Begin at Utah Courts Xchange. Pick Justice Court when you are chasing an Orem citation, lower misdemeanor, ordinance violation, or small claim. Pick District Court instead for a felony, a Class A misdemeanor, a divorce, probate, a tort claim, or any other state trial matter. Unsure of the level? Run the docket search both ways.

  1. Use the Xchange Guest route or account sign-in.
  2. Enter the Orem case or citation number when known.
  3. For a name search, use the spelling first filed.
  4. Narrow to Utah County, Orem, and the likely case type.
  5. Open the event history and verify the court before acting.

Case numbers are not unique across the state, so pair yours with Orem and the Justice Court scope when you search. If nothing comes back, the entry may still be processing locally. A quick call to the Orem clerk settles it.

Orem Video Hearing Workflow

Video and teleconference formats dominate the Orem docket, according to the official court page. That fact puts your local hearing notice front and center. The statewide calendar can confirm a setting exists. Yet it may leave out check-in steps or the final remote link. The Orem Justice Court page carries the video-hearing and calendar routes you need.

Orem docket search video hearing and calendar instructions

Follow the Orem email, calendar, MyCase, or Webex instruction that matches your actual case. A link from some earlier hearing will not work here.

Orem check: The live court notice controls whether a setting is remote, in person, continued, or reset.

Orem Municipal Court Basics

Orem City Justice Court sits at 97 E Center, Orem. Call (801) 724-3900, text 801-229-7000, or write jcorem@utcourts.gov. This office handles the municipal Justice Court docket only, not the Fourth District Court cases that involve Orem residents.

Utah Courts lists Judge Reed S. Parkin on the Orem assignment. His name can help narrow a calendar, but the case number and court still work better as docket search keys. The court can also tell you whether local processing has finished.

Orem Docket by Case Type

An Orem city case and an Orem resident's District Court case are different files. The Justice Court docket covers Class B and C misdemeanors and infractions. It also takes traffic tickets, city ordinances, and qualifying small claims. Everything bigger goes to the Fourth District Court. That means felony and Class A criminal cases. It also means larger civil filings, domestic matters, probate, tort, and property disputes.

Court Dates and Settings in Orem

The Utah Courts calendar takes a number, party name, judge, date range, or court location. For Orem City Justice Court, check the statewide result against the local video instructions. Also check any MyCase information tied to your case. Remember what a calendar is. It lists scheduled activity only, not the full Orem docket.

If the Orem calendar and your notice disagree, call the clerk. A reset does not dismiss the case, and a blank calendar does not prove anything ended.

Orem Mandatory Citation Forms

Orem splits citations into mandatory and nonmandatory routes. The official page lists selected drug, alcohol, assault, domestic violence, disorderly conduct, theft, trespass, and serious traffic charges among the mandatory categories. That list can change, so the current Orem page and your citation control. The mandatory route requires a Request for Hearing plus Rights, Instructions, and Enhancement forms. Once the court processes the request, it emails the hearing date. The official Orem mandatory-charge page displays that form stack.

Handing one form informally to another office accomplishes nothing. It does not replace the full Orem court process or a required filing.

Traffic Tickets in Orem

Nonmandatory Orem citations may allow payment or a request for another disposition. Before paying online, the city says to look into traffic school first. Contact the Orem court or use the stated Request to Judge process. Certain alcohol, reckless, very high-speed, double-limit, and mandatory categories are listed as ineligible. Payment works online. It also works at the Orem counter, by phone at (801) 724-3900, or by mail with a check or money order. The in-person window runs 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Your exact amount depends on the citation, the judge, and the Uniform Fine and Bail Schedule. So assume no flat fee. Countywide filing distinctions are on the Utah County traffic ticket page.

Orem Justice Court Volume

FY2023 data shows 10,768 Orem Justice Court filings and 10,896 dispositions. Traffic alone made up 9,173 filings and 8,937 dispositions. With traffic that dominant, the citation and remote-hearing pages become the workhorse routes for the Orem court docket.

Dispositions can top a year's filings because the total sweeps in cases filed earlier. It does not show that every new Orem case was resolved. Nor is it a conviction measure. Read the individual docket for its own outcome.

Where Orem Cases Go

Orem City Justice Court takes the local lower-level cases. State District Court matters involving Orem go to their assigned Fourth District location, commonly Provo or Spanish Fork under the current structure. Provo Juvenile Court serves Orem and nearby cities too. Juvenile records, though, generally stay closed to the public.

Orem City Justice Court → Fourth District Court for a Justice Court trial de novo appeal → Utah appellate courts where later jurisdiction applies. Felony, major civil, domestic, and probate matters begin in District Court instead. The court field, not the Orem address of a party, sets the docket route.

Note: Check the current directory before visiting because court locations and assignments can change.

Orem Calendar, MyCase, Xchange

Each Orem tool does one job. The calendar lists scheduled activity, while Xchange sells public case history and any available public documents. MyCase is free but party-facing, built for people connected to a case. It is not the public's replacement for Xchange.

Case history

MyCase

When the online tools fall short, a free terminal at the courthouse and the clerk's counter both remain open to you.

Orem Court Record Access Rules

UCJA Rule 4-202.02 sorts Orem court records into four classes: public, private, protected, and sealed. So a case shell can be public while one of its pleadings stays private. Sealed, expunged, protected, and juvenile material never reaches the ordinary public view on Xchange.

Public does not mean complete: A missing Orem PDF may be classified, still processing, or outside electronic image coverage.

For a public item that is not online, use the Judiciary record form. Name the Orem court, the case number, the title, and the date. A response usually arrives within 10 business days, though the court may ask for clarification, classify the record, redact it, or arrange fees first.

Verify the Orem Court Docket

Missing Orem case? Check a few things before you pay again. Confirm local processing. Confirm the Justice Court's scope, the spelling of the name, the citation number, and the date range. Calling or texting the Orem clerk beats repeating a broad paid query. For District matters, go to the Fourth District clerk at the address Xchange lists. For official copies, ask the right clerk whether you need a plain, certified, or exemplified record. A quick phone call or email can settle the route. The Orem counter handles local Justice Court records. Mail and the Judiciary request process can cover a specific need. Give enough detail that an Orem municipal file is never mixed up with a District file. Read any Orem docket in order. A charge is not a result. A hearing marked scheduled may never have been held, and a reset is not a dismissal. The judge, the date, the setting type, and the next event together give the real context. The Orem history may look old. If the local calendar shows a fresh setting, confirm both with the clerk. An online image is not certification either. Xchange can show a public event and may sell you a document. Yet only the Orem or District clerk issues a certified copy. Ask the office that will receive the record what form it requires. That one question can save you from paying for an Orem image that serves no official purpose. The Judiciary request form is the fallback when a public file is not online. State the Orem court, the case number, the document name, and the date. Then choose inspection or copies. Most requests get a response within 10 business days. The court may first need clarification, classification, redaction, a fee estimate, or payment. Keep remote access and record access apart. A MyCase or Webex link can help a connected party attend an Orem hearing. But it is not a certified docket. An Orem calendar entry is not a transcript either. The filing court is still the final source for the current setting and the official record.
